This is our first ever white Pinot Gris, as we've only ever made an orange wine with this variety before. However, 2022 offered up some of the ripest fruit we've ever had at Sandridge Barton so we decided to take a small parcel and make a still white wine.
After crushing and de-stemming we transferred the juice to both stainless and one old French oak barrel to ferment spontaneously. Both vessels also went through full Malo-lactic fermentation and were bottled without any fining or filtration.
The resulting wine is ripe with fresh orchard fruits, white flowers and citrus on the nose. The palate is full with more yellow apple and Comice pear flavours and a clean cut acidity.
