Don't Feed the Ponies Furze 2021

Made from 60% skin-contact, barrel-matured Pinot Gris and 40% Madeleine Angevine aged in stainless steel, the blend was then matured for 24 months in old French oak, with some under flor.

Rich and oxidative, it’s layered with baked apple, bruised apricot and nutty depth, balanced by freshness and grip.

Part of our Don’t Feed The Ponies range, this wine celebrates the wilder side of winemaking — and supports Dartmoor’s roaming ponies with 25p from every bottle going to the Dartmoor Preservation Association.

Wine Making

The grapes were hand harvested in October before being removed from the stems and crushed. We let the juice soak in contact with the skins for two to three weeks to extract flavour, colour and tannin before transferring the free run juice into stainless steel where we waited for the fermentation to take place naturally by relying upon indigenous vineyard yeasts. both varieties were blended and matured in old oak for 24 months, some under flor. The wine is bottled without any fining or filtration in order to maximise flavour and texture and can therefore appear slightly hazy with some harmless sediment.
