Don't Feed the Ponies Cider 2022

Our cider is made in the traditional method and consists of apples, apples and some more apples. Nothing else. Lightly sparkling with crunchy, earthy apple characters and some gentle tannin.

100% Estate Apples – When we moved to the Sandridge Barton Estate, we inherited a couple of orchards. Rather than let the apples go to waste, or fall to the hands of Devon’s notorious ‘Scrumpers’, we thought we’d put them to good use.

Wine Making

We picked the apples from our orchard in late September, crushed and pressed them immediately. The juice was transferred to stainless steel tanks where it fermented spontaneously with ambient yeast. In the summer of 2023, we bottled the cider and added a touch of sugar in order to put it through its second fermentation in bottle in the traditional method. The cider matured on the lees for about 18 months before being hand disgorged.
